Job Summary

West Kentucky Community & Technical College (WKCTC), recognized as a top 10 community college in the nation by The Aspen Institute five consecutive times and three times as a Finalist with Distinction, invites applications for the position of Cosmetology Lecturer. WKCTC is a comprehensive community college that provides excellence in teaching a learning, promotes student success, and supports economic development.

Lecturers plan and carry out instructional activities, maintain records and reports on student attainment and progress. Lecturers are not required to advise students, participate in internal or external service activities, or participate in professional development activities.

Job Duties:

• Abide by all KY Board of Cosmetology rules and regulations
• Develop classroom lesson plans
• Provide practical and client laboratory instruction and supervision for Cosmetology I-IV students
• Maintain student and client infection control procedures within the practical and client laboratory
• Maintain record keeping for student hours as indicated by the KY Board of Cosmetology
• Responsible for instruction in cosmetology courses. Applicants must have knowledge of multiple teaching methods, and education principles, practices, and methodologies for all facets of cosmetology training and have an ability to demonstrate hair, makeup, nails and/or skin care services and walk students through the procedures step-by-step.
• Ability to effectively work with a team is essential to success in this position.
• Must report to program coordinator

Minimum Qualifications:

Successful Candidate must possess:
• A current KY Cosmetology License, or the ability to obtain a KY License within 30 days of employment.
• A current KY Cosmetology instructor license, or the ability to obtain the license within 30 days of employment
• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Cosmetologist in the industry
• The ability to adapt to multiple student learning needs.  

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have prior teaching experience and a commitment to teaching excellence.
