Job Summary

Big Sandy Community & Technical College is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Adjunct Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Instructor. This is a temporary, part-time position designed to fill instructional needs in EMS education, including classroom, lab, and field instruction. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, weekend, and/or online courses.

Job Duties:

• Deliver engaging and effective instruction in EMS courses aligned with state and national standards.
• Provide hands-on training in emergency medical procedures, including patient assessment, airway management,     trauma care, and more.
• Evaluate student performance through exams, practical assessments, and assignments.
• Supervise and assess student field internships, including QI/QA of reports and preceptor coordination.
• Maintain accurate records, gradebooks, and documentation.
• Assist with curriculum development, course revisions, and public relations events.
• Ensure student compliance with immunization and field readiness requirements.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and college-wide initiatives.
  Promote a positive learning environment that fosters student success and professionalism.
  Occasional travel between campuses and for professional development, including overnight stays.
• Minimum of 12 hours per week, with flexibility for additional hours as needed.
• May include a combination of day, evening, and weekend hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current Kentucky Paramedic License with Level IV EMS Instructor Endorsement.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
• Instructor certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, PEPP, AMLS, and PHTLS (or ability to obtain within year of hire).
• Minimum of 4 years certified/licensed at EMT level or higher.
• At least 2 years of field experience as a Paramedic.
• NAEMSE Level I Educator Certification (or ability to obtain within 1 year).
• Experience in a training or educational setting.

• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of current EMS practices and instructional techniques.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Experience with student evaluation, field internship coordination, and curriculum development.
