Job Summary

The Career Laddering Navigator supports the ORR-funded Career Laddering Service assisting skilled refugees and qualifying immigrants with international work and educational experiences who meet Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) eligibility criteria. This navigator oversees the development and implementation of each participant’s Individual Career Laddering Plan (ICLP). The Navigator provides case management and career coaching, helping participants navigate re-licensing processes, recognition of foreign/international work experience, and international degree evaluation. The Navigator connects participants to BCTC academic and workforce programs as well as community, industry, and professional resources to increase employability skills and support career advancement.

This is a grant funded position

Job Duties:

• Receives participant referrals from the Outreach/Intake Specialist and conducts career intake to identify skills, experience, and career goals in alignment with ORR eligibility requirements.
  
  
• Develops and manages Individual Career Laddering Plans (ICLPs) for participants who qualify under ORR regulations.
  
  
• Guides participants through the processes for re-licensing or credentialing foreign/international work experience in the U.S. and/or obtaining international degree evaluations.
  
  
• Provides case management and career coaching to support skill development, credential recognition, and career advancement.
  
  
• Refers participants to BCTC academic programs, workforce training, and student services aligned with their career goals.
  
  
• Connects participants to external community and industry partners for employment, internships, apprenticeships, and professional development opportunities.
  
  
• Maintains accurate and timely participant records in compliance with ORR guidelines, Kentucky Office of Refugees standards, and grant reporting requirements.
  
  
• Monitors participant progress and adjusts career plans as needed to support success and retention.
  
  
• Participates in program outreach, networking, and relationship-building with industry and community stakeholders.
  
  
• Supports program evaluation and improvement efforts by contributing data, feedback, and best practices.
  
  
• Attend Global Learning meetings and events and provide updates on the program’s status, challenges, and accomplishments.
  
  
• Work in collaboration with the RVTP Program Manager and Navigator to support program outcomes and goals.
  
  
• Stay updated on grant policies and BCTC regulations to ensure program compliance.
  
  
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (Education, Higher Education, Social Work, World Languages, Cultural Studies, or related field) and four years work experience.
  
  
• Strong written and oral communications skills
  
  
• Must have a valid driver's license.
   

Preferred Qualifications:

• Language Skills in French, Arabic, Swahili or other world languages with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  
  
• Willingness to work some non-traditional schedules with some events and outreach programs during the evening and on weekends. Events and programs will be planned with advanced notice.
  
  
• Commitment to the mission of a comprehensive community and technical college and student success.
  
  
• Personal and professional integrity with an emphasis on confidentiality and attention to detail.
  
  
• Must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects at once.
  
  
• Must have a strong understanding and knowledge of immigrant educational, social, and economical assets and barriers.
