Job Summary
This position will be responsible for full-time instruction in English composition (including co-requisite) courses, fostering an active and inclusive learning environment in which students from a variety of backgrounds and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive, maintaining office hours for mentoring and coaching students, engaging in success and retention activities, and utilizing Blackboard for instruction, communication, and feedback.
Job Duties:
Instructors may be expected to teach on multiple campuses for both day and evening courses, and in a variety of delivery modes including fully in-person, fully online, and hybrid.
Other duties include but are not limited to:
• Academic advising
• Course and curriculum development
• Internal and external community service
• Professional development
• Educational Leadership
The English Division offers mentoring and division-level professional development to support colleagues in their full role as a faculty member. This position requires the ability to work supportively in a culturally diverse environment of students, faculty, staff, and the community. Candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to working with multi-lingual learners and communities that have been less represented in higher education through teaching, mentoring, or administration are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in English or a Master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate hours in English required.
• Experience in and understanding the importance of working with students, colleagues, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience at the college level and online teaching experience are strongly preferred. Candidates are encouraged to highlight any of the following in their application materials: experiences with community colleges; a demonstrated ability to incorporate an intersectional, inclusive framework; familiarity working with multi-lingual learners and communities that have historically been less represented in higher education.
