Job Summary

Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) is a member college of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. As one of the two largest colleges in our system, BCTC transfers more students to four-year universities than any other college in the state. It awards certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees in more than 40 career and technical programs with day, evening, and online classes serving more than 16,000 students annually at seven campuses. Customized workforce training serves more than 500 businesses annually. Job Duties:

  • Performs daily cleaning of classrooms and offices such as; dusting, taking out trash, cleaning windows, vacuuming, wiping down base boards and cleaning cobwebs from ceilings. 

  • Performs daily cleaning and maintenance of restrooms. 

  • Performs minor repairs (i.e. changing light bulbs) and assists maintenance technician when needed. 

  • Maintains grounds by weeding mulch beds, planting and watering, picking up trash, and snow removal. 

  • Moves furniture or equipment for events, meetings, and classes. 

  • Performs floor maintenance such as; shampooing carpet, sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing and buffing. 

  • Performs painting when needed. 

  • Responsible for setup and breakdown during special events. 

  • Maintains standard safety regulations, is responsible for MSDS sheets, and organizes hazardous waste pickup. 

  • Basic maintenance troubleshooting and calls in service requests when needed. 

  • Responsible for ordering of all custodial/janitorial supplies. 

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma and 3 years of related experience, or equivalent, and a valid driver’s license.  

Preferred Qualifications:

Associated Degree and 4 years of related experience, or equivalent.

Additional Skills Requested:

Able to lift heavy items such as office furniture, equipment, etc.; good communication skills; commitment to the mission of a comprehensive community and technical college and to personalized maintenance and operations services; personal and professional integrity.
