Job Summary

The primary purpose of the part time Financial Specialist III is to perform financial operation duties, including student account collections and student financials.

Job Duties:

  • Serve as main contact on Hopkinsville campus for student cashiering and student financial issues.

    Provide excellent customer service to students, parents, and third-party vendors.

    Troubleshoot and resolve student financial issues. Provide resolutions quickly when needed and provide timely responses to inquiries received via Business Office email, Signal Vine, and help desk tickets.

    Provide support to Fort Campbell Financial Specialist as needed.

    Assist with student refund process. Advise students and troubleshoot student refund issues.

    Coordinate cancellation/purge process for non-payment throughout the semester.

    Establish, post, and review third-party billing contracts, including but not limited to WIA, Vocational Rehabilitation, MyCAA, HCC foundation, local industries, etc. Process third-party invoices and payments in a timely manner and ensure accuracy.

    Oversee Veterans Affairs (VA) payments and work with Fort Campbell Financial Specialist to process all VA returns.

    Actively review open account balances and add necessary service indicators on student accounts.

    Reconcile clearing accounts.

    Generate various student financials communications to students using multiple platforms (email, Signal Vine, etc.)

    Work with Admissions to ensure accurate billing of all high school students for dual credit classes.

    Assign vehicles for faculty/staff use and keep track of driver certifications.

    Work with maintenance department to make sure vehicles are serviced and cleaned.

    Oversee vending machine refunds and report when any service may be needed.

    Serve on Scholarship Committee, Refund Appeal Committee, Residency Appeals Committee, and any other assigned committees.

    Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director of Financial Operations and Vice Chancellor of Business Affairs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree and four years related work experience, or equivalent.

    Demonstrated excellent customer service skills/soft skills. 

    Demonstrated attention to detail. 

    Demonstrated excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task in an open office environment and respond to issues and concerns that affect the department. 

    Discretion in handling high level, confidential materials related to the department. 

    Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills. 

    Demonstrated excellent database and computer skills. Must have advanced Excel skills.
