Title: Lab technician - Lineworker - Part Time

Salary Range: Hourly rate of $20 per hour

Contract Term Length: Not Applicable

Standard Hours: Evenings; Up to 15 hours a week

Work Location: On-Site

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary

Responsible for training and developing potential line workers in the technical skills and safety protocols required for working on electrical power lines.

Job Duties:

  • Deliver instructional materials,
  • Conduct hands-on training sessions,
  • Evaluate students’ performance, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Requires experience as a line worker, strong communication skills, and the ability to mentor and guide students in a high-risk environment.
  • Ideal candidates should be passionate about safety and committed to preparing the next generation of line workers.
  • Provide in-person instruction to students outside at the pole yard.
  • Maintenance and care of training materials will also be expected.
  • Keep abreast of changes in the respective field and help keep the program updated.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 years of relevant experience/ industry certifications a plus
  • Understanding and experience with electrical power line safety requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent; self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with many individuals at all levels throughout the internal college environment and external business and community partners, representing himself/herself professionally and courteously.
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
  • Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word).
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or equivalent
  • Experience in and understanding of working with students from diverse populations is preferred.
  • Experience working at the community college level is preferred.

Additional Skills Requested:

This is an hourly position working with students on poles alongside the full-time instructor.
