Job Summary

HealthForce Kentucky in collaboration with Owensboro Community and Technical College is seeking a Paramedic Coordinator of Education. This position will interface with content experts/faculty and other Simulation Education Specialist to help develop simulation based trainings. This individual will be responsible for ensuring simulation and KBEMS standards are being upheld. This position functions as a simulation subject matter expert and provides options to educators to get the most out of the equipment and experiences for participants. The position is currently grant funded with objectives to secure extended funding.

Job Duties:

• Serve as a simulation content expert and a primary point of contact for other mobile units and EMS education. This position interfaces with customers who want to use resources and adapt new instructional methods. Each event will need to have a roadmap developed that is well organized with a purpose and plan. Each event will take special consideration for the age of the learners and appropriateness of the content for that learner group.
• Assist in balancing of equipment allocation, availability, managing logistics, and ensuring the time dedicated to a single event is appropriate. Ensuring documentation for each event is complete and updated following each event.
• Participate in the development and delivery of faculty development classes, special projects, and continuing education trainings.
• Focus of the training will include facilitation, scenario development, quality, best practices, prebriefing, simulation, debriefing, and evaluation.
• Participate in planning team collaboration with course facilitators/faculty to develop and design curriculum that integrates best practices of simulation.
• Orient new staff to mobile operations and program expectations.
• Maintain KBEMS TEI status and maintain the ability to deliver EMS continuing education credits.
• Provide technical assistance, support, and training to faculty and staff in the use of simulation methodologies and equipment.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of equipment, curriculum, operations and services.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or similar and two (2) years of relevant clinical work experience is required.
• Current EMT-P required
• Paramedic Instructor certification required withing 1 year of hire.
• Certified Health Simulations educator (CHSE) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist is required within 2.5 years of hire.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in healthcare and four (4) years of relevant clinical work experience.
• Instructor certification is preferred.
• Experience in delivering simulation is preferred.

Additional Skills Requested:

• Must be able to professionally and flexibly work independently and collaboratively with others.
• Must possess excellent organizational, planning, oral, and written communication skills and positive interpersonal skills.
• Work with age groups across the lifespan.
• Willing to learn new software, processes, and implement standards.
• Frequent travel is possible, up to 75% of the time, and requires overnight stays. Transportation and accommodation are provided or compensated.
• Work may be required outside of traditional working hours.
• The job may resemble clinical work occasionally and lifting up to 50 pounds is required.
