Job Summary

Public Safety Officer is assigned to each Owensboro Community & Technical College (OCTC) campus and are responsible for the enforcement and compliance of all OCTC Student Code of Conduct and KCTCS employee Policies and Procedures. They provide a presence and immediate response to local first responders and serve as Safety, Security, and Emergency Management point of contact for their assigned campus. They respond and assist with Campus Crisis Situations and Emergencies, which includes Deployment and Response to SNAP (Safety Notification Alert Process) Notifications.
Shift: Mon. - Thur. 2:30PM – 9:30PM and Fri., 1:00PM– 6:00PM = 31 hours per week

Job Duties:

• Ensure the safety and security of people and property.
• Patrol designated areas and respond to calls.
• Investigate and report incidents and injuries that occur on campus.
• Prepare accident, incident, and injury reports.
• Provide support to Law Enforcement Officers and First Responders.
• Conduct security inspections of building including locking/unlocking doors.
• Direct traffic and maintain order at public gatherings.


Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma required.
• One (1) year of relevant work experience or equivalent
 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Three (3) years of relevant work experience in Military, Law Enforcement, or First Responder (EMS, Fire Fighter) is preferred.
