Job Duties:
The work-study component of Ready to Work/Work and Learn provides work opportunities on both on-campus and off-campus through work-study programs. Students in the programs gain work experience while earning extra income that will not reduce their K-TAP benefits. The placement of work-students with both private and non-profit employers helps prepare them for the workplace by allowing them to gain work experience, job retention skills, and earn extra income.
Possible position placements may include, but not be limited to:
Office and/or department assistance
Food Services
Switchboard
Maintenance
Registration
Library
Security
Off Campus Businesses
Minimum Qualifications:
Eligible students must be receiving K-TAP benefits and be referred from the Family Support Offices in each county to be in the program.
Ready to Work students must:
Be enrolled for at least 6 credit hours (each term)
Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
Have a GED or High School Diploma before eligible for the student employment portion of the program
Work and Learn students must:
Be officially enrolled in their county Adult Education Lifelong Learning Center with 6.0 reading and total math TABE scores
Maintain 10 hours attendance with Adult Education Lifelong Learning Center per week while participating in Work and Learn program
Make a level gain in Adult Ed during their initial semester of Work and Learn and remain in the program the following semester employment portion of the program
