This position is responsible for teaching 15 credit hours per semester including Physics and at least one other Physical Science subject area - Chemistry, Geology, and/or Astronomy, as part of our Math and Science Scholars of Excellence (MSSE) program. Emphasis will be placed on major's courses, but non-major's courses may fill out the remaining credit hours. In addition to the teaching duties, the successful candidate will become a grant mentor for Pre-engineering and Science discipline students associated with MSSE program and will be expected to participate in activities and trips related to such. All instructors are expected to maintain office hours, engage in advising/support, class preparation, curriculum development, assessment, faculty development (in-service, formal coursework, seminars, etc.), external/community service activities, and regularly attend college/departmental meetings.

Somerset Community College invites applications for a Student Support Specialist II/Coordinator Ready to Work Program position. The KCTCS Ready to Work (RTW) program is a partnership between the Kentucky Community and Technical College System and the KY Cabinet for Health & Family Services, Department for Community Based Services. These positions will identify, recruit, and support low-income/at-risk KTAP eligible students who are enrolled or interested in enrolling in postsecondary education and those who are enrolled in adult basic education working toward a GED or improving their basic skills with a goal of attending college, including work-study opportunities that do not reduce certain public benefits, advocacy and mentoring, access to daycare and transportation assistance and employment skills training. The KCTCS Ready to Work program is grant funded and funded through June 30, 2027. KCTCS will be requesting a continuation budget for the Ready to Work Contract. This position will serve students in Clinton, Cumberland, McCreary, and Wayne Counties. Weekly travel to service areas will be required to meet with students and community partners. Travel to other counties will be required for job training, professional development and meetings. SCC offers college vehicle reservations and travel reimbursement when applicable.
