Job Summary

The Learning Commons of Jefferson Community and Technical College has an opening for an Instruction Librarian.

Job Duties:

The primary responsibilities of this faculty librarian position include:
• Providing instruction in collaboration with faculty, including planning, delivering, and evaluating instruction that promotes library services and resources while assisting students to develop information literacy and lifelong-learning skills.
• Providing reference and research services for students through in-person and online tutoring sessions.
• Providing virtual chat assistance through Ask-a-Librarian.
• Participating in the Learning Commons Instruction Team by creating instructional tools (e.g., LibGuides, videos, handouts) through traditional and emerging formats.
Other duties include:
• Participating in collection development and other Learning Commons activities.
• General faculty responsibilities (e.g., advising, professional development, internal, and external service).
• Providing desk coverage at the Central Service Desk.
• Expected occasional travel to extended campuses.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Library/Information Science from an American Library Association accredited program. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2-3 years professional library experience.
• Experience using Alma (Ex-Libris) integrated library system.
• Experience working with a variety of colleagues: student workers, full-time staff and faculty, and part-time staff and faculty.
Experience with Springshare, Canva, and other content creation applications.

Additional Skills Requested:

Physical Requirements: Occasional and /or light lifting – limited exposure to disagreeable environmental elements (heat, cold, dirt, chemicals, etc.)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• High level of computer proficiency, including integrated library systems, Microsoft Office, and Blackboard (or other LMS).
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
