Job Summary
Education Specialist/Health Career Coordinator to provide healthcare workforce educational opportunities for middle, high, and post-secondary students to foster interest in the healthcare workforce sector. This position will be in Hazard, KY.
The Southeast Kentucky Area Health Education Center (AHEC) strives to enhance the access to quality health care by improving the supply and distribution of healthcare professionals through community/academic educational partnerships.
Our organization provides service to sixteen counties in eastern Kentucky. From clinical rotations in rural practice settings to health careers programming in our local school systems, our youth are being prepared to enter the healthcare workforce. In addition, Southeast Kentucky AHEC supports our local communities by offering continuing education opportunities to healthcare professionals, as well as medical library services in the Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center.
Job Duties:
• Plans and provides health careers programming for middle, high, and post-secondary
students within the Southeast Kentucky service region.
• Develops partnerships with public and private schools to carry out identified programming.
• Recruits students to participate in health careers programming.
• Evaluates programming for effectiveness and quality.
• Tracks student participation and progress through data entry into an AHEC tracking
system.
• Participate in scheduled meetings that shall include local, statewide, and national travel.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (related field) and one-year related work experience, or equivalent
