Job Summary

This role manages all KCTCS System-Wide accounting transactions; oversees and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of transactions for all business units, prepares and analyzes System-Wide consolidated monthly financial statements include the KCTCS Statement of Net Position and KCTCS Statement of Revenues , Expenditures and Changes in Net Position. and other duties as assigned

Positions with the KCTCS System Office located in Versailles, KY are term-contract positions, with the expectancy of continuance based on performance.

KCTCS offers a hybrid work schedule with a requirement to be onsite a minimum of 3 days per work week. Hybrid work schedules are subject to periodic review and may be modified or terminated at any time.

Job Duties:

Approves manual journal entries (up to $100,000 at start with eventual movement to $250,000) and advises advancement, workforce solutions and college employees on accounting and reconciliation issues.

Prepares various journal entries on a regular basis and as needed to ensure accounts are accurate and complete, Manages month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing process, ensuring that all accounting processes have been completed and journal entries have been entered, Verifies that account balances roll-forward properly.

Prepares month-end and year-end consolidation "Statement of Net Position" (SNP) and Statement of Revenues, Expenses and Changes in Net Position" (SRECP) Prepares detailed analysis of SNP and SRECNP fluctuations for management. Investigates
significant fluctuations.

Conducts college site-visits for external audit and assists with external audit, as needed.

Prepare monthly sales tax return and other reports as needed.

Provides training and assistance to junior members of Accounting staff, as needed and oversees the monthly General Accounting calendar, Provides timely and excellent customer support to our colleges and system office employees.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years of relevant experience or equivalent.  

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree and six (6) years of relevant experience or equivalent.

Additional Skills Requested:

Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics.

Strong knowledge and experience in GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) & GASB (Governmental Accounting Standards Board) principles and practices, Technical Proficiency with common accounting software (Peoplesoft, Oracle, Excel, other ERP and data management solutions; Strong communication and interpersonal skills, Managerial or other leadership experience; Strong analytical mind.
