Job Summary
The Career & Work-Based Learning Navigator supports students and recent alumni through career coaching, career-connected learning, and participation support within non-apprenticeship Academic-Based Work-Based Learning opportunities aligned with students’ programs of study. The position assists students with navigating internships, co-ops, job shadows, micro-internships, project-based learning experiences, and related experiential learning opportunities through career guidance, academic advising support, academic and career pathway navigation, employer engagement support, participation assistance, and workforce readiness development.
Job Duties:
Academic WBL Pathway Coordination & Participation Support:
- Provides individualized career coaching and career development support to students and recent alumni, including career exploration, self-assessment, major and career alignment, employment preparation, job search strategies, resume development, interview preparation, and transition-to-employment support.
- Supports student engagement, participation follow-up, and experiential learning success within Academic-Based WBL pathways.
- Assists students with academic advising support, academic and career pathway navigation, educational planning support, resource connection, and workforce readiness activities related to Work-Based Learning participation and career-connected learning opportunities.
Career Coaching & Student Support:
- Provides individualized career coaching and career development support to students and recent alumni, including career exploration, self-assessment, major and career alignment, employment preparation, job search strategies, resume development, interview preparation, and transition-to-employment support.
- Supports student engagement, participation follow-up, and experiential learning success within Academic-Based WBL pathways.
- Assists students with academic and career pathway navigation, resource connection, and referral support related to Work-Based Learning participation and career-connected learning opportunities.
Employer, Classroom, & Student Engagement Support:
- Assists with employer classroom visits, presentations, campus recruiting activities, workshops, recruitment events, and experiential learning opportunities supporting Academic-Based WBL pathways.
- Collaborates with faculty, employers, and institutional partners to support career-connected learning, student engagement initiatives, and experiential learning participation opportunities.
Operational Systems, Communication, & Outcomes Tracking:
- Utilizes departmental systems and student engagement platforms including Handshake, OnceHub, Amazon Choice, and related departmental technologies.
- Assists with student communication, outreach, follow-up, participation tracking, and shared departmental support processes.
- Maintains records and supports tracking of engagement, placement, retention, and employment outcomes related to Academic-Based WBL and experiential learning activities. Assists with institutional reporting, outreach initiatives, marketing activities, and cross-functional workforce development efforts.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 3 to 4 years of relevant experience
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, ability to work independently and adapt seamlessly to fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Skilled in engaging and supporting students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree or equivalent
- Previous experience in a community college setting
- Career coaching and student advising
- Strong communication and relationship building skills
- Organization and program coordination
- Data tracking and technology proficiency
