Job Summary

The Staff Instructor – CDL position is a part-time assignment as for a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program. This accelerated training program offers high-demand, industry credentials to adult students. The candidate must be able to follow a focused instructional timeline that prepares graduates for the fast-paced work of the trucking and logistics industry. The primary purpose of this position is to assist, coordinate, promote and deliver customized CDL training (instruction) for students in Business and Industry credit and non-credit programs.

Job Duties:

The duties/responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
• Assist with the development and delivery of CDL training to students from a variety of backgrounds. Comply with all state CDL/DOT requirements. Ensure program standards continually meet the Federal and State Training Provider Registry Requirements.
• Participate in student and employer recruitment events, as well as student retention activities. Participate in team planning meetings.
• Assist with instructional training modules and monitor all student skill activities/progress while maintaining files for students/participants. Assist with counseling individual clients/students concerning the program and their progress and completion requirements. Escort students to Kentucky State Police testing facility and prepare them for successful completion of the Class A CDL driving test. Track student completion and learning outcomes including grades, graduation requirements, and performance tracking. Work with success coaches for student success tracking.
• Assist with maintaining and keeping inventory of CDL equipment and supplies while being mindful of budgetary parameters with other Workforce Solutions department personnel. Perform additional work-related duties as assigned by the Vice President of Workforce Development (may include department meetings, internal or external service, professional development, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED required
• Possess a current Class A CDL License required
• Three (3) years of CDL long haul driving experience or other related technical experience required, five (5) years preferred
 

Preferred Qualifications:

• CDL Driving instructor experience and/or trainee road supervision preferred
• Proficient in Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) preferred
