Job Summary
Provides general maintenance and upkeep of buildings and grounds to maintain a safe and clean environment for learning. Ensures cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in assigned areas.
Job Duties:
- Performs general custodial duties utilizing basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas, removing waste, completing daily cleaning of restrooms, classrooms, and offices based on the schedule provided by the supervisor.
- Moves and assembles furniture and equipment for room set-up.
- Replaces light bulbs, ceiling tiles, etc
- Provides general maintenance and minor repairs.
- Repairs furniture, unclogs drains, sweeps and waxes floors, and operates the floor buffer.
- Assists maintenance technicians with more technical repairs.
- Provides groundskeeping services and maintains clean walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice.
- Operates forklift and/or lawn equipment.
- Assist in set-up during special events.
- Other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- HS diploma/GED or equivalent
- At least one year of relevant experience
- Ability to effectively communicate using auditory and visual methods, ability to distinguish colors, follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Primarily use close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to adapt seamlessly to fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Skilled in engaging and supporting students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets the KCTCS insurance standards, and must be able to drive cars, vans, and pick-up trucks.
- Previous experience in a community college setting
Additional Information:
Working Conditions/Job Hazards: Normal maintenance/custodial environment with moderate noise (examples: lawn mowers, drills, vacuum cleaners, etc.) Moderate degree of hazard or danger associated with the job.
