Job Summary

The Director of Marketing provides leadership and accountability for project management, workflow, and execution within the Department of Marketing. This role is responsible for establishing and overseeing standardized project management processes, developing and implementing a cohesive marketing tools strategy, and ensuring marketing initiatives are aligned with college-wide priorities. Working closely with the Vice President of Advancement, the Director of Marketing translates executive leadership direction into actionable plans, ensuring timely, consistent, and high-impact marketing execution across the institution.

Job Duties:

  • Leads and manages all marketing project management processes, including intake, prioritization, timelines, deliverables, and cross-functional coordination. Ensures accountability and transparency across all marketing initiatives.
  • Develops and implements a strategic plan to bring marketing tools in-house and intentionally layer systems (project management, content, digital, and communication tools) to improve efficiency, scalability, and performance.
  • Partners with the Vice President of Advancement to align marketing initiatives with institutional priorities established by executive leadership. Translates strategic direction into executable marketing plans with clear goals, milestones, and outcomes.
  • Supervises and supports marketing staff, providing direction, coaching, performance management, and workload oversight to ensure alignment with departmental goals and standards.
  • Serves as a key liaison between Marketing and internal stakeholders across the college, ensuring coordination, clear communication, and effective implementation of marketing initiatives.
  • Monitors progress, evaluates outcomes, and recommends improvements to marketing processes, tools, and workflows to enhance effectiveness and responsiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of management and/or supervisory experience
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in marketing
  • Demonstrated experience leading marketing project management and workflows with a high level of accountability and follow-through
  • Ability to receive and act on leadership direction with professionalism, focus, and a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Proven capacity to develop and implement integrated marketing systems and tools that support efficiency, transparency, and scalability
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with an emphasis on collaboration, coaching, and service-oriented leadership
  • Commitment to providing responsive, solution-focused customer service to internal stakeholders and campus partners, treating departments as internal clients
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance strategic priorities and day-to-day execution
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a complex, fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive, professional, and service-driven approach
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, able to work independently and adapt seamlessly to fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Skilled in engaging and supporting students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience partnering with senior leadership on institutional initiatives
  • Openness to creative problem-solving and exploring innovative approaches to marketing solutions while remaining aligned with institutional goals
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Previous experience in a community college setting
