Job Summary
The Dual Credit Advisor serves as liaison to secondary schools for articulated credit, the Bluegrass College Academy, dual credit, and dual enrollment. Working collaboratively with the Dual Credit Director, high school Guidance Counselors, and Dual Credit Instructors, the Dual Credit Advisor assists in recruitment, application, advising, registration, and matriculation of dual credit students. The Advisor provides information to dual credit students about various college resources, monitors academic progress, provides individualized and group academic advising/guidance, and facilitates matriculation after high school graduation. In addition, the Advisor assists students with understanding college procedures and policies and responds to questions from students, parents, high school guidance counselors, dual credit instructors, as well as other interested parties. The Dual Credit Advisor reports to the Associate Dean of Dual Credit.
Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) is a member college of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. Job Duties:
• Provide academic advising to new, returning, assigned, and prospective dual credit students and include appropriate documentation and concise notes of student interactions, referrals, resources, and interventions.
• Assist with BCTC orientation for dual credit students to ensure they receive necessary information as related to placement testing, dual credit scholarships, college resources and services, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure seamless onboarding for dual credit students by affirming student eligibility and enrolling eligibility students in approved dual credit courses.
• Create an academic plan for dual credit students and provide ongoing support throughout the semester to include personalized communications and prompts, one-on-one meetings to identify barriers to academic success, and assist in developing plans to overcome these barriers to reach established student goals.
• Collaborate with Dual Credit Associate Dean to facilitate establishment of KCTCS User Accounts for Dual Credit instructors.
• Confirm approved dual credit course list and instructors for each assigned high school with Dual Credit Director prior to semester start.
• Work collaboratively with Admissions, Records Office, the Business Office to ensure accurate and timely application entry and processing, registration, and billing for OC students.
• Assist with processing dual credit waivers and scholarships.
• Assist with dual credit roster verification and final grade submission.
• Work collaboratively with the Dual Credit team to increase dual credit student enrollment, retention, credential completion, matriculation to BCTC, and/or successful transfer.
• Provide a supportive environment for all students.
• Conduct regular communication with dual credit students, high school guidance counselors, and dual credit instructors through various means such as e-mail, phone, classroom visits, video appointments (Teams, etc.), text, and face-to-face conversation.
• Participate in targeted outreach plans for dual credit students including email, texting campaigns, social media, etc.
• Refer and/or assist students with navigating both college services and community services and resources when appropriate. These referrals include interventions to address mental health issues, disability support services, food or housing insecurities, financial aid assistance, and more. Assist in scheduling appointments with these resources when necessary.
• Collaborate with Advising office as needed for traditional student advising.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree (Education, Counseling, or related field) and four-years related experience, or equivalent.
• A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation
