Job Summary

The English Department of Jefferson Community and Technical College needs an instructor who will be responsible for full-time instruction in English composition (including co-requisite) courses; fostering an active and supportive learning environment in which all students are welcomed and can thrive. This position begins the fall semester August 2026.

Job Duties:

Instructors may be expected to teach on multiple campuses for both day and evening courses, and in a variety of delivery modes including fully in-person, hybrid (one day in person paired with online instruction), and fully online.
Other duties include but are not limited to:

• Maintain office hours for mentoring and coaching students

• Utilizing Blackboard for instruction, communication, and feedback

• Academic advising

• Course and curriculum development

• Internal and external community service

• Professional development

• Educational Leadership

The English Division offers mentoring and division-level professional development to support colleagues in their full role as a faculty member. This position requires the ability to work supportively with all students, colleagues, and community members.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in English or a Master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate hours in English required. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Teaching experience at the college level and online teaching experience are strongly preferred.
• Experiences with community colleges.
• Commitment to the mission of community colleges.
• Skilled in engaging and supporting students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Working with multi-lingual learners
