Job Summary

The Esports Coordinator supports the mission of Bluegrass Community and Technical College by fostering an welcoming and engaging environment for all students. The Esports Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination, and management of the institution’s esports program and esports lounge. This role oversees competitive teams, recreational gaming initiatives, facilities, events, and student engagement opportunities related to esports. The Esports Coordinator fosters an inclusive, student-centered environment that supports leadership development, teamwork, academic success, and wellness while promoting responsible gaming practices.
This position reports to the Director of Student Engagement.

Job Duties:

  • Research, develop, and implement the college’s esports program.

  • Establish program goals aligned with institutional mission, student engagement priorities, and retention efforts.

  • Develop policies and procedures related to esports participation, eligibility, conduct, and facility use.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with league organizers, coaches, and institutional partners.

  • Promote eSports at the institution through marketing and advertising.

  • Supervise and train student workers for the esports lounge.

  • Follow guidelines to ensure team compliance with all leagues, conference and institutional rules and regulations.

  • Plan and execute esports-related events such as tournaments, watch parties, open play nights, and outreach activities.

  • Oversee the coordination and setup of esports teams.

  • Collaborate with campus departments to integrate esports into student life programming, and retention efforts.

  • Assist students with registering for Esports and managing documentation such as waivers and maintaining updated rosters and eligibility requirements.

  • Track and maintain esports equipment inventory, ensuring consoles and PCs remain fully operational; perform and document updates for gaming software, Windows OS, drivers, and peripheral systems while ensuring all downloads comply with institutional policies, licensing agreements, and appropriate usage standards.

  • Collect participation data, assess program outcomes and prepare reports and presentations for leadership as needed.

  • Promote sportsmanship, integrity, and physical and emotional well-being among student athletes.

  • Build and foster a supportive and competitive team culture representing the mission, values and goals of the college.

  • Serve as lead administrator for competitions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, and two years of relevant experience 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates ability to engage, motivate, and communicate effectively with students in group and individual settings.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with others. Commitment to the mission of the comprehensive community and technical college.

  • Position requires regular travel between campus locations. Must have a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

  • Experience with online console or pc gaming.

  • Strong computer skills and ability to quickly learn new software.

  • Ability to think critically, be innovated, and learn new and inventive ways to engage students.

The KCTCS Ready to Work (RTW) program is a partnership between the Kentucky Community and Technical College System and the KY Cabinet for Health & Family Services, Department for Community Based Services. These positions will identify, recruit, and support low-income/at-risk KTAP eligible students who are enrolled or interested in enrolling in postsecondary education and those who are enrolled in adult basic education working toward a GED or improving their basic skills with a goal of attending college, including work-study opportunities that do not reduce certain public benefits, advocacy and mentoring, access to daycare and transportation assistance and employment skills training. The KCTCS Ready to Work program is grant funded and funded through June 30, 2027. KCTCS will be requesting a continuation budget for the Ready to Work Contract. This position will serve students in Clinton, Cumberland, McCreary, and Wayne Counties. Weekly travel to service areas will be required to meet with students and community partners. Travel to other counties will be required for job training, professional development and meetings. SCC offers college vehicle reservations and travel reimbursement when applicable.
