Job Summary

The Federal Work Study Program (FWS) provides funds that are earned through part-time employment to assist students in financing the costs of postsecondary education.

    Job Summary

    The Federal Work-Study Program at MCTC provides students with the opportunity to work part-time while attending school, earning wages to help cover educational expenses.     Job Duties:

    This job is a great way to gain work experience, build professional skills, and make a positive impact on campus or in the local community. Depending on where you're placed, you may help with tasks like office work, tutoring, customer service, or supporting community programs. 

    On-campus Work: Assist in administrative duties, filing, data entry, answering phones, and providing support to faculty and staff.

    Off-campus Work: Support local schools, nonprofit organizations, or community centers by tutoring students, assisting with after-school programs, conducting outreach, or organizing community events.


  • Students participating in federal work-study can work up to 20 hours per week, depending on their student budget and unmet need. Most students are eligible for awards that allow for 10-20 hours per week

Minimum Qualifications:

To be eligible for the Federal Work-study Program students must:

  • Be enrolled in at least 6 hours for the Fall and Spring semesters, and 3 hours for the Summer semester.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA
  • Declare a major (undecided majors are not eligible)
  • Meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and Maximum Time Frame (MTF) requirements each semester
  • Have a completed FAFSA on file
  • Have enough unmet need remaining in your budget for the current year (it may be necessary to decline loans).
  • Kentucky State Law requires state and national pre-employment background checks as a condition of employment.
