Salary Range: $41,000-44,000

Job Summary

Full-time 10-month faculty position in CAHIIM accredited Health Information Technology program; must be committed to providing quality instruction to students of various ages and backgrounds while meeting the program objectives. Applicants must enjoy working with students both in and out of the classroom. This individual will fulfill all other faculty responsibilities for student and program support.

Job Duties:

  • Instruct 18 credit hours per semester, fulfill other full-time faculty responsibilities, and assist program coordinator with completion of program specific reporting.
  • Online classroom instruction that incorporates Health Information Management concepts into classroom instruction and classroom management.
  • Provide students with adequate attention, instruction, and supervised practice to acquire the knowledge and competence needed for entry-level practice.
  • This position must be flexible in teaching daytime, evening, or weekend classes, and through online and remote delivery methodologies.
  • Additionally, provide instruction for online medical terminology courses.
  • Actively participate in student advising via Microsoft Teams meetings.
  • Promote the general education and transferability of coursework to four-year institutions through collaborative partnerships.
  • Actively participate and work within the state and local curriculum committee guidelines to ensure that the quality of the program is maintained at the highest level.
  • Work with program faculty to complete academic program reviews as requested.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the courses as they relate to the general education components necessary for all technical and transfer programs.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher with required AHIMA RHIT credential; CPC or CCS is also recommended.
  • Minimum of two years work experience in the medical coding field is required.

  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and, in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
  • Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word).
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or related healthcare field, with AHIMA RHIA certification
  • Recommend to have in-patient and out-patient coding experience with a minimum of five-years experience in the field.
  • Experience in and understanding of working with students from diverse populations is preferred.
  • Experience working at the community college level is preferred.

Additional Skills Requested:

  • ICD-10-CM Trainer or significant work experience.
