Job Summary

Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) is seeking qualified technical faculty for a full-time 10-month position in the Cosmetology program on the Newtown North Campus in Lexington. BCTC seeks faculty who value the academic success of their students and who love to teach. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in Cosmetology. Previous experience teaching at the college level is preferred. This position does require some flexibility of scheduling which may include evenings and weekends. The position is a 10-month faculty position working from August through May each academic year.

Job Duties:

  • Abide by all KY Board of Cosmetology rules and regulations.

  • Develop classroom lesson plans, instruct and grade courses, and record grades in Blackboard.

  • Knowledge of multiple teaching methods, education principles, practices, and methodologies for all facets of cosmetology training and have an ability to demonstrate hair, makeup, nails and/or skin care services and walk students through the procedures step-by-step.

  • Provide practical and client laboratory instruction and supervision for cosmetology students.

  • Maintain student and client infection control procedures within the practical and client laboratory.

  • Maintain record keeping for student hours as indicated by the KY Board of Cosmetology.

  • Participate in college and community service.

  • Attend professional development activities that directly relate to job responsibilities and will enhance student success.

  • Effectively work with a team is essential to success in this position.

  • Work closely with program coordinator.

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A current KY Cosmetology License

  • A current KY Cosmetology Instructor License  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a cosmetologist in the industry

  • College-level teaching experience

  • Ability to adapt to multiple student learning needs
