Job Summary
Somerset Community College is accepting applications for a full-time Instructor- Librarian at the Laurel North Campus.
Job Duties:
- Provide research, reference and information literacy support to students, staff, and faculty at Somerset Community College through multiple service modalities (virtual, in person, chat, embedded, etc.).
- Coordinate day-to-day operations of the Learning Commons at the Laurel Campus, including opening and closing procedures as needed, and communicate facilities, technology, or operational concerns to the Director.
- Contribute to the Libraries' instruction program by delivering information literacy instruction, developing instructional materials and assessments, creation of learning objects, and participating in ongoing evaluation and improvement of student learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with faculty and Library Services team to develop and maintain collections aligned with programs, curriculum needs, and student learning priorities.
- Perform general library and administrative duties as assigned, which may include circulation, outreach, and material processing, consistent with department needs.
- Actively engage with professional development to remain current with trends in information literacy, librarianship, instructional technology and higher education.
- Collaborate with other Learning Commons staff and programs to support academic support services.
- Travel as needed to other campus locations, community events, and local high schools to conduct instruction sessions, outreach, and provide training to meet department and institutional goals.
- Provide limited supervision and training for student workers or part-time employees, as assigned.
- Participate in internal service, external service, shared governance, and leadership activities consistent with faculty status requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of Library Services and institutional priorities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in academic libraries. Knowledge of ExLibris ALMA and Springshare Tools.
