Job Summary

Hazard Community and Technical College invites applications for the position of Private Foundation Grant Writer.  The Private Foundation Grant Writer is responsible for researching, developing, writing, and submitting grant proposals that support the strategic initiatives of Hazard Community & Technical College (HCTC). This position works collaboratively with leadership, faculty, staff, and external partners to secure funding from private sources. The Private Foundation Grant Writer will lead the preparation of competitive grant applications that align with HCTC’s mission through education, workforce development, and community partnerships. This role includes coordinating proposal development and ensuring compliance with funding requirements.

Job Duties:

Duties to include, but not limited to:

• Conducts research to identify initiatives appropriate for external private, state, and federal funding.
•Researches and evaluates external funding opportunities aligned with the college’s mission and priorities.
•Prepares high-quality grant applications, proposals, narratives, and supporting documentation as directed by the Dean of IEPR or President.
•Collaborates with faculty and staff on private foundation, state, and federal grant or contract writing.
•Assists faculty and staff in understanding policies and procedures governing expenditures from grant-funded accounts.
•Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (related field) and four years of related work experience, or equivalent. 

Preferred Qualifications:

GPC Certification preferred.
Demonstrated history of successful grant awards.

Additional Skills Requested:

•Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
•Strong research and analytical skills.
•Documented experience of writing multiple competitive grant applications, including a record of successfully awarded grants.
•Experience in higher education or nonprofit grant development.
•Strong writing, editing, and project management skills.
