Job Summary
Maysville Community and Technical College seeks a Student Support Specialist to work within the Student Support Services (SSS) TRiO grant. SSS supports first-generation, low-income, and/or disabled students to retain, succeed, and graduate. This position will be at the Maysville and Licking Valley Campus.
This is a full-time, 12-month, TRIO Grant-funded position, and reports to the Director of Student Support Services. The Counselor is responsible for serving students on multiple campuses and will work regularly with students for the purpose of career, personal, and academic advising.
Job Duties:
Coordinate participant assessments.
Develop Student Success Plan with participants and advise a caseload of participants.
Collect and analyze participant data to support project evaluation.
Coordinate success workshops.
Coordinate transfer advising services and college transfer visits.
Assist with financial literacy services.
Work with staff/faculty to coordinate disability services.
Provide career services.
Oversee project academic tutoring, coordinating, training, supervising, and evaluating Peer Tutors.
Develop and improve the academic and career guidance and counseling plan for a college.
Lead transfer advising services and coordinate college transfer trips.
Work with civic, professional and business groups as appropriate, represents college and KCTCS educational opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or higher in Education, Counseling, or related field
Two years’ experience in instruction and/or student services in higher education
Demonstrated understanding of high-need students’ academic barriers
Excellent communication skills
Strong technology skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s
