Job Summary

Gateway Community and Technical College invites applications for the (Student Only) Part-Time position of Welding Technology Student Assistant. The part-time student Assistant will support the safe and effective delivery of welding education at Gateway.

Job Duties:

Under the supervision of welding faculty, duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and safety of the shop
  • Clean equipment
  • Handle tools
  • Disassemble products
  • Prepare raw materials for welding
  • Transport materials
  • Operate machinery
  • Research assigned by faculty

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in the welding program
  • Detail-oriented and accurate
  • Dependable and able to maintain an agreed schedule
  • Professional, courteous, work well with supervisors and others
  • Understand and follow safety procedures 

Preferred Qualifications:

Work Hours: Part-time flexible hours Monday through Friday, 20 hours per week, schedule to be determined.

The Federal Work-Study Program provides funding for part-time employment on and off campus to qualifying students. If you have an unmet financial need as determined by the most recent FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), you can earn money for your education while you are enrolled in school at least half-time (6 hours) and have a GPA of at least 2.0.
