Job Summary
Hazard Community & Technical College invites applications for the position of Academic Program Facilitator - Upward Bound Math & Science Program Facilitator. This position will facilitate education, training, and supportive services for the Upward Bound grant. This position is funded by grant dollars.
NOTE: This position does require extensive travel for school visits and cultural enrichment trips. Initial review of applications will begin on April 14, 2024.
Job Duties:
Duties will include, but not limited to:
• Assist in the identification and recruitment of incoming students’ applications by verifying eligibility at the target school.
• Develop Individual Readiness Plan (IRP) is to assist in monitoring the student's goals and strategies for achieving those goals once eligibility is determined.
• Conduct weekly school visits to provide individual and group advising to support students’ academic success, high school graduation, and enrollment in postsecondary education.
• Maintain close contact with students, parents/guardians, target schools, administration, and community partners to provide support services (academic, career development, financial, and social and emotional well-being).
• Provide leadership and assessment of students to support achievement their academic goals, fostering personal growth, resilience, and a successful transition to post-secondary.
• Facilitate cultural enrichment activities for program participants – includes scheduling college visits and chaperoning cultural enrichment trips.
• Facilitates the 6-week summer education program. Includes assisting with recruiting instructors, procuring necessary books and supplies, monitoring participants for attendance and participation and chaperoning the cultural enrichment trip at the end of the summer program.
• Maintains files for participants in the program and completes required data tracking for the grant.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (related field), and one year related experience, or equivalent. Must have excellent communication skills and organization skills.
