Job Summary

Adjunct faculty are needed for our BCTC campuses for a variety of introductory Communication courses including Basic Public Speaking and Introduction to Interpersonal communication. Responsibilities include the evaluation & supervision of students, working collaboratively with faculty and staff and completing professional development requirements.

Job Duties:

• provide instruction for on campus, hybrid, and/or online communication courses aligned with the program/area-approved course objectives
• prepare adequately for all classes and meet all assigned classes punctually
• demonstrate current knowledge required by curriculum communication
• conduct classroom and college-related activities in a professional manner
• evaluate student progress appropriately, equitably, and in a timely manner
• maintain student grade reports in the college learning management system
• follow the instructor reporting schedule which includes submitting student progress reports, recording midterm and final grades, and submitting other required reports in a timely manner
• work collaboratively with faculty & staff to provide education, evaluation & supervision to students
• complete required professional development trainings required of adjunct faculty.
• maintain all necessary and required records relating to student achievement, progress, and attendance; especially by verifying course attendance at the start of the semester and identifying last day of attendance for students who earn an E or equivalent grade
• other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum requirements are a Master’s Degree in Communication or a Master’s Degree in any field and at least 18 hours of graduate-level coursework in communication. Previous teaching experience, specifically in higher education is preferred but not required.
