Job Summary

The Career Outreach & Placement Specialist/Career Services Counselor II is responsible for developing and sustaining employer partnerships, coordinating student recruitment and placement activities, and supporting participants through career exploration, training completion, and employment. This position plays a critical role in building a regional talent pipeline aligned with workforce and equity goals of the GEO Project and SKCTC. The Specialist will serve as a liaison between students, employers, community partners, and college departments to ensure successful enrollment, completion, and job placement outcomes. This is a grant funded position.

Job Duties:

Employer Engagement & Workforce Partnerships
• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with regional employers, including SKCTC Education First Employers
• Maintain a professional network of employers to facilitate job placements, internships, job shadowing, and work-based learning opportunities
• Coordinate job postings, employer engagement, and student placements through Handshake and other platforms
• Participate in local career fairs, job fairs, campus events, and community events to secure employer commitments for student placement

Student Career Development & Coaching
• Serve as a success coach for GEO Project participants and workforce students
• Counsel and advise students and recent alumni individually and in groups on career exploration, self-assessment, career pathways, and employment decisions
• Provide information and guidance related to student services, college policies and procedures, and employment preparation

Student Recruitment & Pipeline Development
• Implement targeted recruitment efforts at local high schools, college campuses, and community partner organizations to build a student pipeline for the GEO Project

Enrollment & Program Navigation Support
• Assist students with the enrollment process, including completing FAFSA and coll
ege applications, understanding the Essential Skills HUB, and selecting a major or sector-based career pathway

Outreach, Marketing & Program Promotion
• Assist with marketing and outreach activities, including distributing flyers, brochures, and promotional materials

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required; education, workforce development, human services, business, or related field).
• Experience in career services, workforce development, student services, employer relations, or a related field.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Additional Skills Requested:

• Experience working with grant-funded programs.
• Knowledge of regional workforce needs and employer engagement strategies.
• Experience with recruitment, career coaching, or placement services in a community college or workforce setting.
