Job Summary
This position will be responsible for teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) classes on campus (not a distance education position) or Integrated Education and Training (IET) services within the community. Topics include reading, writing, listening, speaking, and civics education in the Adult Education ESL program. There will be a minimum of one class per week, which will include teaching two evenings.
Job Duties:
- Teach reading, writing, listening, speaking, and civics education in English as a Second Language.
- Position will teach a minimum of one two evenings per week at varying levels and at multiple sites.
- This will include lesson development and use of online learning systems.
- Manage the data and record-keeping for their ESL students at all locations, other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Must score NRS level 6 on the TABE in Reading and Math.
- Must have classroom experience delivering ESL instruction as well as using digital learning programs for instruction.
- Ability to work well with a diverse group of people.
- Database experience
- Testing experience
- Excellent digital literacy skills
- Ability to develop curriculum and lessons at various levels of difficulty and for an ESL population
- Ability to work with adult students and non-native speakers
- Must be able to work independently.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, able to work independently and adapt seamlessly to fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Skilled in engaging and supporting students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in an Adult Education program with ESL preferred.
- Experience working at the community college level.
- Previous experience in a community college setting
