Salary Range: $45,000.00 based on qualifications and experience

Job Summary

Jefferson Community and Technical College has an opening for a full-time English Instructor.

Job Duties:

This position will be responsible for full-time instruction in English composition (largely in first-year writing), fostering an active and inclusive learning environment in which students from a variety of backgrounds and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive, maintaining office hours for mentoring and coaching students, engaging in success and retention activities, as well as utilizing Blackboard for instruction, communication, and feedback. Instructors may be expected to teach on multiple campuses for both day and evening courses, in a variety of delivery modes including fully in-person, fully online, and hybrid.
Other duties include but are not limited to:
• Academic advising
• Course and curriculum development
• Internal and external community service
• Educational leadership and professional development.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in English or Master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate hours in English required. Experience in, and understanding of the importance of, working with students from diverse backgrounds required. Teaching experience at the college level and online teaching experience preferred. The English Division offers mentoring and division-level professional development to support colleagues in their full role as a faculty member. This position requires the ability to work supportively in a culturally diverse environment of students, faculty, staff, and the community. Candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to working with multi-lingual learners and historically under-served students and/or communities through teaching, mentoring, or administration are especially encouraged to apply. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with a demonstrated ability to incorporate an intersectional, inclusive framework into teaching and student engagement are encouraged to identify those experiences in the application materials. The English Division specifically, and the college generally, is working to build a culturally diverse faculty and staff committed to teaching and working in a multicultural environment.
