The PLC Instructor will deliver flexible, hands-on training in programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to adult learners and incumbent workers through the Workforce Solutions division. This part-time role supports local industry by providing customized instruction in automation technologies, both on campus and at employer sites.
Job Duties:
Deliver hands-on instruction in:
PLC programming and logic development
Wiring and configuring PLC systems
Input/output (I/O) troubleshooting
Ladder logic interpretation and editing
Use of PLC software platforms (e.g., RSLogix 500/5000, Studio 5000, TIA Portal)
Integration with sensors, actuators, HMI panels, and safety systems
Adapt training to various experience levels—from beginner to advanced
Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot training equipment and software
Provide guidance on safe installation and maintenance of control systems
Communicate effectively with Workforce staff, employer partners, and students
Offer informal assessments, feedback, and coaching to learners
Minimum Qualifications:
3+ years of hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting PLC systems in an industrial setting
Proficiency in one or more major platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Rockwell)
Ability to travel to employer sites within the NKY region
Strong communication skills both written and verbal
High attention to detail and safety
Self-directed, dependable, and professional
Preferred Qualifications:
Training or teaching experience, especially working with adult learners.
