Job Summary
This is a 10-month full-time faculty position teaching History classes in high schools. The instructor advises students, maintains office hours, provides internal service to the college as assigned, pursues professional development, and provides leadership where appropriate.
Job Duties:
- This instructor position will teach primarily in high schools.
- The position includes a variety of History courses as needed and requires flexibility of scheduling, which may include evenings, weekends, and a variety of campus locations.
- You will be required to teach assigned courses following the mode of instruction: in-person (two days per week), hybrid (in-person one day per week paired with online instruction), or standard online/asynchronous with no required in-person meetings.
- Maintain at least five in-person office hours per week.
- Develop syllabi, course materials, etc.
- Maintain an updated gradebook in Blackboard, weekly announcements, and timely communication with students throughout the semester.
- Use computer technology to enhance student learning.
- Work closely with other History faculty.
- Advise current students for career-related or transfer advising.
- Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures.
- Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
- Participate in internal and external service within the college.
- Engage in an appropriate level of professional development.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in history OR a master’s degree in any field AND 18 graduate semester hours in History.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in History
- Minimum 2 years’ teaching experience
- Experience with blackboard and other instructional technology
