Job Summary

Coordinate clinical learning lab facilities and services in the nursing program.


10-month faculty contracts span the academic year, typically from August to May, with no course assignments during June and July. Although the contract covers 10 months, the salary is spread over 12 months, ensuring a consistent monthly salary.
Benefits are provided year-round. Renewal of the contract depends on factors such as student enrollment and available funding

***Applicants selected for an interview will be required to give a short (approximately 15 minutes) teaching demonstration on the topic to be determined prior to the interview.

Faculty may be assigned courses that include both traditional college students and high school students earning dual credit. This dynamic mix offers a unique opportunity to engage learners at different stages of their academic journey.

Job Duties:

  • Provide instructional leadership for the skills and simulation laboratory within the Associate Degree Nursing Program, ensuring alignment of laboratory learning experiences with course outcomes, program outcomes, current evidence-based practice, and NCLEX-RN test plan expectations.
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate laboratory and simulation instruction that supports classroom content and promotes the development of psychomotor skills, clinical judgment, and professional behaviors across multiple nursing courses.
  • Collaborate with course faculty to review, revise, and align laboratory, simulation, and skills-based curriculum with didactic instruction to ensure curricular coherence, scaffolding, and integration of best practices in nursing pedagogy.
  • Participate in systematic curriculum review and continuous quality improvement processes related to laboratory, simulation, and clinical learning experiences.
    Coordinate the operational management of the nursing skills and simulation laboratories, including scheduling, setup, maintenance of equipment, and oversight of learning environments to support high-quality educational delivery.
  • Manage procurement, inventory, and maintenance of laboratory and simulation supplies, equipment, and instructional resources necessary to support student achievement and program outcomes.
  • Facilitate and implement simulation-based learning experiences using evidence-based simulation standards and debriefing methodologies to enhance student clinical judgment and readiness for practice.
  • Serve as an active member of the nursing faculty team through collaborative teaching, instructional support, and participation in team-based course delivery across classroom, lab, simulation, and clinical settings.
  • Promote and enforce safe laboratory and simulation practices in accordance with institutional, regulatory, and professional standards.
  • Establish, implement, and regularly update laboratory and simulation policies, procedures, and operational guidelines consistent with program, institutional, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain laboratory, simulation, competency, and operational records necessary for program assessment, regulatory compliance, accreditation reporting, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Participate in student advising, mentoring, and academic support activities to promote student progression, retention, and success in the nursing program.
  • Contribute to program evaluation and accreditation processes, including data collection, documentation, analysis, and continuous improvement activities in support of accreditation standards, including those of the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
  • Engage in professional development activities to maintain instructional expertise, clinical competence, and currency in nursing education and simulation pedagogy.
  • Obtain and maintain recognized healthcare simulation educator certification/training within one (1) years of employment and demonstrate ongoing application of simulation best practices in curriculum delivery.
  • Participate in departmental, divisional, and college service activities and support institutional mission, strategic priorities, and governance processes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by department, division, or college leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSN (with commitment to complete MSN within 5 years of date of hire)
  • Documented minimum of three years full-time or equivalent experience as a registered nurse within the immediate past five years.
  • Current active, unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Kentucky.
  • Satisfaction of clinical facility requirements, including a drug screen.
  • Medical-Surgical or critical care nursing experience required.
  • Must be able to work in a standard office and lab environment.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and stoop.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to thirty pounds.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, able to work independently and adapt seamlessly to fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Skilled in engaging and supporting students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word). 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MSN in Nursing Education
  • Healthcare simulation educator certification
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (such as Blackboard, Canvas, etc.)
  • Teaching experience, particularly at the college level
  • Strong dedication to enhancing student learning and achievement.
  • Experience working with and understanding students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience in academic advising and supporting student success.
