Job Summary
A part-time library assistant will assist in organizing library materials, help guests with finding resources, manage circulation desk tasks, shelving books, handle ATI/Academic Testing for LVC, and provide general administrative support to students and library faculty/staff.
Job Duties:
• Daily opening/closing procedures
• Check library materials in and out
• Reference assistance, including monitoring library chat service
• Register new patrons in library management system
• Create student and employee photo ID cards
• Provide general reference and circulation/reserve services to users
• Guide users to appropriate material as needed
• Assist users with library computers with use of word processing, printer/copier, Blackboard, etc.
• Proficient use of library management systems, i.e. Alma, library discovery service, training will be provided
• Proficient use of library databases and other electronic materials, training will be provided
• Process library materials, include printing spine labels, inserting date due slip, and stamping ownership
• Shelve all new and returned library materials
• Maintain the Maysville campus library scrapbook of local newspaper clippings related to the college
• Library inventory, update item status in the library system for missing or damaged material, notify library director for possible purchase for replacement of items
• Record library daily usage and reference statistics
• Maintain condition of Maysville collections, i.e. move books, clean, and straighten shelves as needed, relabeling and repairing materials
• Library equipment annual inventory
• Develop library displays
• Handle the ATI/Academic Testing for the Campus
• Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma, 6 months experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates Degree, 6 months- 1 year experience.
