Job Summary
Somerset Community College is accepting applications for a Temporary Full-time Adaptive Projects Specialist. This is a temporarily funded position, 3 years or less, similar to a grant funded position. This position will be a staff position that will involve a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to outreach, teaching, grant writing, new project development, technology research and development, public speaking, and other social economic impact initiatives. The staff member will work directly with the Additive Manufacturing, research and development, and grant writing teams at SCC, as well as community and business leaders in the region and across Kentucky. The position will also involve travel, partial remote work, fabrication, equipment operation, and presentations to the public.
Job Duties:
Works with existing faculty/staff to research, review, and develop funding proposals, agreements, and related documents to submit through the system to the funding agency (NSF for example).
Networks, makes presentations, and connects with regional industry leaders for development private-public partnerships, serve as a needs and language translator between academia and industry.
Works with faculty/staff to develop new project ideas and seek out new opportunities, technologies, and unrealized applications.
Assists and/or provides management of grant staff, supported faculty, industry partners and projects to ensure grant requirements are being met and within budget guidelines.
Conducts compliance monitoring throughout the grant cycle, ensuring that the grants are in compliance with established administrative and financial policies, procedures, and sound business practices.
Maintains related documents for audits, tracks and assists with the timely submission of necessary program/performance reports and relevant data entry.
Assists grantees and project managers with publication of grant project results in peer-reviewed journals and other publications.
Where qualified, can serve as a program coordinator and/or will also teach academic and workforce solutions courses as part of regular duties, where relevant to the nature of future opportunities or current grants.
Travel; driving SCC fleet vehicles (cars, vans, pulling equipment trailers with standard pickup trucks, etc.), operating material handling equipment (forklift, telehandler, etc), will be required for the delivery of presentations, workshops, and working on grant funded projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Diploma or A.S. degree. Must possess general knowledge of cloud-based software, Google Docs, Dropbox, etc. in addition to basic computer/Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
The above stated qualifications and more than two years of private sector/industry experience.
Experience managing projects and professional relationships between customers and vendors, and has a basic understanding of how private industry operates.
Has given public professional or research presentations.
Has teaching/academic experience.
Has experience with grant funding, been professionally funded by a grant source, or utilization of grant funds.
