Job Summary

The Learning Commons of Jefferson Community and Technical College is seeking a Tutoring Coordinator. The Tutoring Coordinator serves as the overseer of part-time tutoring staff and as the daily operations planner for tutoring services. The Tutoring Coordinator reports to and collaborates with the Tutoring Administrator to develop the tutoring program.

Job Duties:

The duties and responsibilities of this position include:
• Provide support and instructions for up to 30 part-time peer tutors, adjunct tutors, welcome desk workers, and assistant tutoring coordinators
• Assist with recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of part-time tutoring staff
• Serve as the primary point of contact for tutoring operations, including resolving logistical and technical appointment issues for students and tutors as they arise
• Manage the tutoring welcome desk and email account
• Schedule, modify, and troubleshoot tutoring appointments and monitor the tutoring email account to ensure accurate matching between tutor, course, and type of assistance
• Build and maintain the tutoring schedules to ensure effective staffing and coverage
• Coordinate and facilitate tutor training and professional development in collaboration with the Administrator
• Support the tutoring program’s CRLA International Tutor Training Program Certification
• Contribute to program assessment and evaluation
• Coordinate and assist with marketing and outreach for tutoring services
• Serve as liaison to faculty, advising, student services, and campus staff for tutoring referrals, scheduling, and service questions
• Participate in Tutoring, Learning Commons, College, and KCTCS meetings, initiatives, and professional development as assigned
• Other duties as assigned by the Tutoring Administrator.
• May require occasional evening and/or weekend hours for events and urgent service/communication needs
• May require occasional travel to assist with marketing events for tutoring on other Jefferson campuses

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and one year of related experience, or equivalent
• Experience with tutoring, academic support, teaching, and/or community college environments
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects
• Initiative and resourcefulness: Ability to work independently and collaboratively
 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in education, rhetoric and composition, or another relevant discipline
• Knowledge of tutoring theory and pedagogy
• Supervisory experience
