Job Summary

ECTC is seeking an Academic Advisor III for the TRIO Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) program. The EOC is a federally funded grant program that provides counseling and information on college admissions to first-generation and limited-income adults who want to enter or continue a program of postsecondary education. want to enter or continue a program of postsecondary education.  The program also provides services to improve the financial and economic literacy of participants including counseling on financial aid options, basic financial planning skills, and to assist in the FAFSA application process. The goal of the EOC program is to increase the number of adult participants who enroll in postsecondary education institutions.
This position is funded by a federal grant ending Augst 31, 2026, with the next renewable cycle beginning September 1, 2026.
The ECTC EOC program serves participants in the following counties: Breckinridge, Grayson, Green, Hardin, Larue, Marion, Meade, Nelson, Washington, and Taylor.

Job Duties:

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Identify and recruit eligible participants in a minimum of at least four counties within the EOC target area.
• Develop relationships with community partners and participants in their respective counties of service, which will require frequent travel throughout the target area.
• Assist and guide participants through the college admissions and financial aid application process.
• Support that will lead to participant enrollment in a postsecondary program of study, referrals to local GED programs for secondary school diploma completion, and workshops on a range of topics, including career development, college selection, financial aid and financial literacy, and academic skill development.
• Assist participants in developing an educational plan and selecting the appropriate postsecondary courses as necessary.
• Conduct educational, financial aid, and career informational workshops.
• Case management, maintains database and student files, and assists in the preparation of reports while ensuring the protection and privacy of participant information in accordance with federal regulations.
• Attend in-house and external TRIO training as required.
• Assist the EOC Director with formative and summative evaluation, grant writing, and reporting.
• Assist with outreach, recruitment, orientation, intake, assessment, and advisement activities leading to the enrollment of low-income and first-generation individuals in postsecondary education programs from their assigned area.
• Other duties as assigned by the EOC Director.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required in counseling, student personnel work, education, social work, or other related field. Three years of experience working with first-generation, limited-income, or disadvantaged populations. Experience in financial aid, career counseling, and college admissions procedures is preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license and have adequate transportation. Must be willing to travel as needed to fulfil the requirements of the grant, which could include some nights, weekends, and possible overnight trips as necessary.

Successful candidates should demonstrate:
• Sincere interest in the success of adult students and be free of biases toward individuals with disabilities, limited-income, first-generation college students, and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Willingness to travel frequently and maintain a presence in the target area.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to the success of program participants, and a strong commitment to the EOC project and the needs of disadvantaged students.
• Computer skills and competency with Microsoft Word and Excel are required.
• Read and interpret budget and financial documents, manuals, procedure reports, and other similar documents as required.
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills are needed.
• Ability to work independently as well as cultivate a cooperative attitude toward colleagues and members of the college community.
• Attention to detail and deadlines with excellent follow-up skills are needed to be successful in this position.
