Job Summary

Jefferson Community and Technical College is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team as an Admissions Recruiter. This unique role combines the responsibilities of guiding students through their academic journey while also actively recruiting prospective students to join our institution. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build strong relationships with students and educational partners.

Job Duties:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The Admissions Department of Jefferson Community and Technical College has an opening for a Recruiter on the Downtown campus. Duties include:
• Developing and implementing recruitment strategies to attract prospective students to the college.
• Building and maintaining relationships with high school counselors, community organizations, and other educational partners.
• Representing the college at high school visits, college fairs, community and on campus events.
• Conducting informational sessions and campus tours for prospective students and their families.
• Working closely with high school counselors/personnel to host on-boarding and enrollment events and workshops for students.
• Assisting with incoming document processing.
• Assisting students with identifying majors/programs that would align with their educational and career goals.
• Assisting students making early connections to support services for academic and non-academic challenges, including referrals to tutoring, accessibility, and other resources.
• Maintaining accurate records of student interactions and progression.
• Maintaining regular contact with students during onboarding process (application to beginning of semester) to aid in retention and ensure students are ready to successfully start classes.
• Serving on college-wide committees as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Experience in college admissions, advising, student recruitment, or related fields.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and student information systems.
• Ability to travel with reliable transportation to and from work sites including nights and weekends for recruitment events.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, coordination, personal interface and time management skills.
• Ability to build rapport with students and community partners.
• Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
• Knowledge of higher education trends and best practices in student recruitment and retention.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, MS PowerPoint)

Occasional and /or light lifting – limited exposure to disagreeable environmental elements (heat, cold, dirt, chemicals, etc.)
