Job Summary

Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC) is seeking a qualified part-time instructor to support the Lead Instructor in delivering high-quality instruction within the Lineman Training Program. This position plays a vital role in preparing students for careers in the electrical utility industry through hands-on training, classroom instruction, and a commitment to safety and professionalism.

Job Duties:

The Lineman Training Program at JCTC provides students with the technical knowledge, practical skills, and safety training necessary to pursue successful careers in the electrical utility industry. With the support of industry partners, the program emphasizes professionalism, teamwork, and real-world experience in preparing the next generation of utility professionals.
Responsibilities
• Support the delivery of the JCTC Lineman Training Program curriculum 24-32 hours a week. The classes meet for 8 weeks 4 times a year. This is considered a temporary position and is not benefits eligible.
• Assume full instructional responsibilities in the absence of the Lead Instructor.
• Assist with CDL-related training activities, including transporting vehicles for fueling and accompanying students to testing appointments.
• Ensure compliance with all Electrical Utility Safety Rules and procedures, maintaining current knowledge of industry standards.
• Contribute to the care, organization, and maintenance of program equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED, and a valid Lineman Journeyman Card
• Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience as a Lineman in the electrical utility industry
• Current CDL-A license
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills
• Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to represent JCTC’s Lineman Training Center in a professional and courteous manner when engaging with students, parents, and industry partners
• Ability to deliver course content using a variety of instructional methods and mediums
 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a classroom or instructional setting
