Job Summary

The Medical Assisting Instructor is responsible for teaching 15 credit hours per semester, delivering high-quality instruction in Medical Assisting courses. This role involves preparing and delivering lectures, labs, and practical sessions, assessing student performance, and providing academic advising. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the instructor will participate in curriculum development, engage in professional development, serve on committees, and contribute to research and scholarship. The instructor will also assist the program coordinator with program-specific reporting, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and institutional requirements.

 

Job Duties:

  • Deliver in-person and online didactic instruction, focusing on patient education and lab instruction that integrates Medical Assisting concepts into classroom teaching and management.
  • Maintain and care for classrooms, labs, and training materials.
  • Keep the programs current by recommending updates or changes to the appropriate parties as needed.
  • Maintain accurate student records and submit data by the required deadlines.
  • Model and foster professional and positive relationships with students.
  • Provide students with sufficient attention, instruction, and supervised practice to develop the knowledge and skills needed for entry-level practice.
  • Be flexible in teaching daytime, evening, and classes on any/all campuses, using various delivery methods.
  • Actively participate in student advising and college committees.
  • Stay updated and promote general education and the transferability of coursework to four-year institutions through collaborative partnerships.
  • Participate in state and local curriculum committees to ensure the program's quality is maintained at the highest level. Collaborate with program faculty to complete academic program reviews as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher with required RMA /CMA or RN credential
  • Three years minimum health-care related experience in ambulatory care.
  • Phlebotomy experience.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Possesses excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail; works independently and is self-motivated; thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills; effectively communicates with individuals at all levels within the college and with external business and community partners, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Communicates clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Capable of multi-tasking, working under deadlines, and prioritizing projects to meet deadlines efficiently and accurately.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree or higher with required RMA/CMA or RN credential.
  • Health administrative experience
  • Experience in and understanding of working with students from diverse populations is preferred.
  • Experience working at the community college level is preferred.
